questions my friends ask me about you

do you miss him?
i miss you like
maple syrup
like soft snores
like cotton pink
i miss you like hugs under doubled covers,
like toasty banana bread
i miss you like air
and sleepy lip kisses, foreheads too
i miss you in emptiness
in the sleepy nothing to do
in fondue for two
i miss you like a second toothbrush
like the first sip feeling.
i miss you in an art piece’s meaning
in nights when my bed’s too big
i miss you like distance
i miss you in my day to day
i miss you like i miss you every day.
how do you feel?
my ears are tender to your name
my fingers laced with your residue,
my nails grew and forgot you.
my eyes have a burn of you
my nose is waiting & hopeful
( it gets red sometimes )
my hair’s still the same, like you’ve seen it before.
my lips are out of practice, they’ve gotten more used to speaking.
my skin is softer.
my skin is colder, most days.
my teeth don’t mind much,
and my mind thinks it’s okay.
but my heart,
my wobbly heart…
